Bini Lee & José Miranda Morillo
Perfect performance: Sing Mahl (Sing Food)
Initially, Bini Lee wanted to sing. In her hometown Seoul, she attended the Music Art High School. Then she packed her backpack and went out into the world. In Berlin, she was trained as a soprano. She was talented, was honored with awards and became a member of the permanent ensemble of the German opera. Then Bini wanted to cook. She could do that quite well from home. She toured the kitchens of Berlin to learn. There she met the Spanish chef José Miranda Morillo. Shortly later, Bini wanted her own restaurant. José initially tried to talk her out of it, but then took her side. Realizing that he cooked better than she did, she eventually left him in charge of the kitchen at Kochu Karu, with Bini in charge of service. Serving a cultural mix of Spanish, Korean and German cuisine. Bini has remained true to music. At the “Sing Mahl” (Sing Food) event, she performs classical songs in her small restaurant, accompanied by musician friends. José cooks meals that are matching the themes of the music. Now, accompanied by the Japanese pianist Saori Tomidokoro, both present their “Sing Mahl” on our CHEF-SACHE stage.
